Reflection

Dear All,

on behalf of organizing team, I would like to ask you to spend 10 minutes to answer the question about the 2nd International Music Olympiad in Riga. This will help us to reflect on what (how) we did it as well as will also help organizers of the 3rd International Music Olympiad. We would be very thankful for all opinions - teachers', participants', jury members', parents' - basically everyone who was involved in the 2nd International Music Olympiad in Riga. May 2, Compositions, group 2

On May 2 participants of the 2nd group performed their original compositions.
The jury and audience really enjoyed creative ideas of all students!

May 2, Original compositions, group 1

On Friday, May 2,at 10.00 AM participants of the 1st group performed her original compositions. 

 The first performer was Tobija from Slovenia - young and very talented jazz guitarist. His composition was a piece for cello and electric guitar. A huge thank you goes to Ms Mara Lagzdina from Latvia for helping out with Tobija's composition!

Opening ceremony of the 2nd International Music Olympiad

Get to know our friends!



The most famous world music band from Latvia Iļģi celebrated their 30th anniversary on April 21, 2011. The group started at the Cultural Centre of Iļģuciems in Riga where Ilga Reizniece, a professional violinist, founded an ensemble of Latvian folk music. She had just graduated from the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music and was an active member of two prominent folk music ensembles Bizīteri and Skandinieki of the time.

The patron of the Olympiad is the Rector of the Latvian Academy of Music Artis Sīmanis

The composer of the Olympiad is Ēriks Ešenvalds

The 2nd International Music Olympiad Riga for students of general comprehensive secondary schools will be organised by the Latvian Music Teachers Association (LVIIMSA) and the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music (JVLMA) in cooperation with the Latvian Ministry of Education and Research.
